Berlin Excursions is run by Berlin Experiences, a Berlin tour company that specialises in private history tours by van, on foot and by bus.

It’s written by Matt, a Berlin tour guide and journalist.

Matt’s tours on ToursByLocals, where he also guides, are rated 5.0 from 84 reviews (checked October 2026).

Why this site exists

Every summer we meet cruise passengers who weren’t told that “Berlin” on their itinerary meant nearly five hours on the road, or who paid for a tour that spent more time in traffic than in the city. We wanted one place that explains the trip honestly, with real travel times and every option on the table.

What we sell, and what we don’t

We sell our own private excursions on this site. We also describe options we don’t sell, including the cruise lines’ own tours and the train, because the right choice depends on you. Some links to other operators earn us a commission; they’re labelled. How we make money.

How we check facts

Port figures come from the ports’ own publications (Rostock Port, Cruise Gate Hamburg, Port of Kiel). Ship calls in our calendar come from the cruise lines’ own itineraries and the Port of Hamburg. Train times come from Deutsche Bahn. Every guide shows the date it was last checked, and we re-check before each cruise season.
